Udupi: Astronomy enthusiasts and members of the public in Udupi will have an opportunity to observe Saturn appearing close to the full moon in the eastern sky on Saturday evening, September 26.

The celestial event can be observed between 7 pm and 9 pm, providing skywatchers with an opportunity to view the planet and the full moon together.

Event organiser Ganeshraj Saralebettu said arrangements have been made for the public to observe the celestial spectacle using internationally recognised binoculars and a telescope.

Telescope and binocular viewing arranged

The observation facility has been set up on the third floor of Bhavani Lodge in Shyam Complex at Maruthi Veethika, near the Sanskrit College in Udupi.

According to Saralebettu, R Manohar has made arrangements for astronomy enthusiasts to view the full moon and Saturn through the binoculars and telescope.

The two-hour observation session is intended to allow visitors to get a closer view of the celestial objects using optical equipment rather than relying solely on unaided-eye observation.

Members of the public interested in astronomy can use the facility during the scheduled period to observe the moon and Saturn in the evening sky.

Opportunity for astronomy enthusiasts

The appearance of Saturn close to the full moon is expected to provide an interesting viewing opportunity for skywatchers. Saturn is among the prominent planets visible from Earth and is known for its distinctive ring system.

The event has been organised with the aim of encouraging public interest in astronomy and providing people with an opportunity to observe celestial objects through a telescope.

For many visitors, the arrangement will offer an opportunity to view Saturn through astronomical equipment while also observing the full moon in the same evening sky.

The observation facility at Maruthi Veethika is located in a central part of Udupi, making it accessible to astronomy enthusiasts and members of the public interested in witnessing the event.

Those attending will be able to spend the two-hour observation period viewing the moon and Saturn through the available binoculars and telescope.

The initiative is also expected to introduce more members of the public to basic astronomical observation and encourage interest in skywatching.

With the observation arrangements in place from 7 pm to 9 pm, Saturday’s event will give astronomy enthusiasts in Udupi an opportunity to look towards the eastern sky and observe Saturn and the full moon together.
