Udupi: A major tragedy was averted in Manipal on Monday after a school bus driver suffered a suspected heart attack while driving but managed to steer the vehicle to safety before losing control. His quick thinking and presence of mind ensured that all students on board escaped unharmed.
The incident occurred when a bus belonging to a private school was transporting students. The driver, identified as Suresh Sannakkibettu (54), reportedly experienced sudden chest pain and began feeling unwell while operating the vehicle.
Despite his deteriorating condition, Suresh reportedly realised the seriousness of the situation and attempted to move the bus away from traffic to minimise the risk to passengers and other road users.
