Udupi: A school bus carrying students of a private school met with an accident in Manipal on Thursday morning after the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a road divider.
According to preliminary information, the incident occurred on June 25 when the bus was travelling from Manipal towards Udupi. The vehicle reportedly veered off course and hit the divider along the road.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the students, school staff or the driver.
Driver reportedly lost control
Police sources said the driver is believed to have lost control of the bus moments before the accident. The impact caused damage to the front portion of the vehicle, but the passengers escaped unharmed.
The incident caused a brief disruption to traffic in the area before the damaged vehicle was removed from the road.
Parents and local residents expressed relief that the accident did not result in any casualties or injuries, considering that the bus was carrying schoolchildren at the time of the mishap.
Police inspect accident site
Personnel from the Manipal police station reached the spot soon after receiving information about the incident. Officers conducted an inspection of the accident site and gathered details regarding the circumstances that led to the crash.
Police are examining whether mechanical failure, road conditions or other factors may have contributed to the driver losing control of the vehicle.
