In a shocking incident on Saturday, August 10, Ronson Everest D’Souza, a cluster manager at a private electronics showroom near Udupi City Bus Stand, was brutally attacked by a security guard following a dispute over work performance.
Ronson (36), a resident of Santhekatte, Udupi, was involved in a conflict with Melvin, a security guard at the showroom. The issue began on August 8, when Praveen, another employee, instructed Melvin to improve his performance. Upset by the criticism, Melvin threatened to quit and obstruct the work of his colleagues.
On August 9, only one security guard, Prasad, reported for duty but left by midday. The manager of Eagle Eye Security Company, Kashinath, was informed and assured that Prasad would be reprimanded and sent back to work. On August 10, Prasad returned and requested a meeting with Ronson around 5:30 pm.
Ronson arrived at the showroom at 6:15 pm and met with Prasad. When Prasad requested not to be removed from his job, Ronson assured him that the matter would be discussed in a meeting on August 11. This response reportedly enraged Prasad, who began verbally abusing Ronson.
As Ronson was leaving around 7:30 pm, Prasad attacked him on the ground floor where security guards sit. Pretending to be on the phone, Prasad suddenly stabbed Ronson in the neck and chest with a knife, kicked him to the ground, and fled the scene.
A case has been registered at Udupi Town Police Station, and the authorities are investigating the incident.
