Udupi: The All Karnataka Women’s Beauty Experts Association, Udupi, in association with Vishwa Geeta Paryayana, is set to host “Singara Siri”, a unique showcase of bridal make-up skills, on August 24 at the Rajangana of Udupi Krishna Math.
Addressing a press meet, Nanda Shetty, district president of the association, said this would be the first-of-its-kind bridal make-up exhibition in coastal Karnataka, designed to highlight Indian cultural traditions. The event will be inaugurated at 9:30 am by Sugunendra Tirtha Sripad, head of Paryaya Puttige Math.
Over 100 beauty parlors from Byndoor, Kundapur, Karkala, Brahmavar, Udupi, and Kaup will participate, presenting a wide range of bridal looks from across India. The exhibition will run from 10 am to 4 pm, and will also feature cultural programs to add to the celebration.
Meanwhile, Shetty raised strong concerns about individuals practicing the beautician profession from home. She alleged that many book online appointments and provide doorstep services without licenses or regulations. “Salon owners pay rent, taxes, and waste management fees, but those working at home face no such obligations. This unfairly reduces opportunities for licensed parlors. If the government does not act against such practices, we will stop paying taxes,” she warned.
The press conference was attended by District Secretary Sandhya Dinesh, District Treasurer Geeta Dayanand, Founder President Maria Harold, and Founder Secretary Veda Suvarna.
