Thieves struck six houses in the government residential quarters near the Mission Compound in the city late Sunday night, stealing cash and valuables. The occupants of the targeted homes were reportedly away when the thefts occurred.
Senior police officials visited the scene, noting the absence of CCTV cameras in the building, which has hampered immediate investigation efforts. As per initial reports, gold weighing 120 grams and Rs 20,000 in cash were stolen from one of the houses. Further details are awaited as the investigation continues.
