Udupi: The Udupi district administration has made comprehensive arrangements for the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination scheduled to be held on June 21 (Sunday), with strict security measures and prohibitory orders imposed around all designated examination centres to ensure a fair and transparent conduct of the test.
District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner Swaroopa T.K. has issued a detailed notification declaring restricted security zones within a 200-metre radius of the six examination centres identified across the district. The restrictions will remain in force during the examination period from 2 pm to 5.15 pm on June 21.
The administration stated that the measures are aimed at preventing malpractice and maintaining a peaceful environment around the examination venues.
200-metre security zone around centres
As part of the enhanced security arrangements, the movement and gathering of people around the examination centres will be closely regulated.
The district administration has prohibited the assembly of five or more persons within the 200-metre restricted zone during the examination period. Authorities believe the measure will help prevent any disturbances and ensure smooth conduct of the examination.
The use of loudspeakers, public address systems and other sound amplification devices has also been banned around the examination centres to avoid distractions for candidates appearing for the test.
Xerox shops and cyber centres to remain closed
To curb any possibility of examination-related malpractice, all photocopy (Xerox) shops, cyber centres and bookstores located within the 200-metre radius of the examination centres have been directed to remain closed during the examination hours.
Officials said the temporary closure of such establishments is a precautionary measure aimed at preventing the circulation of unauthorised materials and ensuring the integrity of the examination process.
The restrictions will be applicable only during the examination period and normal operations may resume once the examination concludes.
Ban on electronic gadgets and personal belongings
Candidates and unauthorised persons have been strictly prohibited from carrying electronic devices and other prohibited items into the examination centres.
The list of banned items includes mobile phones, tablets, Bluetooth devices, smartwatches, calculators and other electronic gadgets. Candidates will also not be permitted to carry wallets, purses, loose papers or personal belongings into the examination halls.
Authorities have advised candidates to carefully follow the examination guidelines and arrive at the centres well in advance to avoid inconvenience.
Police deployment for security
The prohibitory orders will not apply to authorised examination officials, internal staff of the examination centres or police personnel deployed on duty.
The Superintendent of Police has been directed to deploy adequate security personnel at all six examination centres and ensure that necessary arrangements are made to maintain law and order throughout the examination period.
Officials said the coordinated efforts of the district administration, police department and examination authorities are aimed at ensuring a secure, peaceful and transparent environment for candidates appearing for the NEET-UG re-examination.
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) is one of the country’s most important entrance examinations for admission to undergraduate medical courses, making strict security measures essential for maintaining the credibility of the examination process.
