Udupi: Kota police have arrested three persons in connection with a case involving alleged threats, abusive language and intimidation over the storage of government-supplied rice bags on residential premises.
A case was registered at the Kota Police Station on August 31 following a complaint. Acting on the complaint, police launched an operation to trace and arrest the accused under the guidance of Udupi Sub-Divisional Deputy Superintendent of Police Belliyappa K.U. and Brahmavar Circle Inspector Gopi Krishna.
Two accused arrested in Mysuru
The police operation was led by Kota Police Station PSIs Praveen Kumar R. (Law and Order) and Mahantesh Jabagowda (Investigation), along with police personnel Vijayendra, Sharath and Shivraj.
Nagendra Puthran, 37, a resident of Gobbarabettu in Kotathattu village, and P. Sumanth Kundar, 40, from Paramapalli Padukere in Paramapalli village, were arrested on September 2.
The duo were apprehended near the Exhibition Ground opposite Mysuru Palace in Mysuru district. They were subsequently produced before the court.
Third accused arrested earlier
Another accused, Sachin Shreeyan, 32, a resident of Mooduhadu village, was arrested on September 1.
He was also produced before the court following his arrest.
The arrests followed allegations of threats, abusive behaviour and intimidation connected to the storage of rice supplied under government schemes at residential premises.
Police continue investigation
Police said further investigation into the case is currently underway.
Investigators are expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the alleged threats and intimidation, besides gathering further information related to the storage of the government-supplied rice bags.
The police have not disclosed further details regarding the specific allegations or the subsequent legal proceedings against the three accused.
