Udupi: The Cyber Economic and Narcotics (CEN) police in Udupi have apprehended three individuals involved in running an illegal betting operation tied to the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) matches.

Based on a credible tip-off, inspector Ramachandra Nayak led a team that conducted a swift raid near Bhujang Park, located in the Ajjarkad area of Udupi taluk. The suspects were caught red-handed while placing bets on the IPL T20 clash between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Mumbai Indians (MI), held in Hyderabad.

The arrested persons have been identified as Sandeep (34) from Nooji, Sriraj (33) from Beluru village, and Madhukar (44) from Molahalli—residents of Kundapur taluk. The trio allegedly encouraged the public to participate in online betting by guiding them and facilitating access to a mobile application named “PARKER.”

During the operation, authorities confiscated ₹81,700 in cash, four mobile phones, and a car with the registration number KA-20-MF-1440. Additionally, police recovered 20 betting-related screenshots and fake documents, including a forged registration certificate (RC) of the vehicle.

A case has been officially registered at the Udupi CEN police station, and a detailed investigation is currently underway to identify others possibly involved in the racket.
