Udupi: Two minor children who had reportedly been confined to their home and stopped attending school due to family-related issues were rescued in Udyavara on September 10.

Children rescued following information

Acting on credible information, social worker Nityananda Olakadu, along with Prajwal and Ramya from the District Child Protection Unit, personnel from the Special Juvenile Police Unit, and Rakshitha and Vanitha of the Akkapade team, visited the house.

The team found the children and rescued them from the situation.

The intervention was carried out following concerns regarding the children’s welfare and their continued absence from school.

Children placed under temporary rehabilitation

Following the rescue, the children were produced before the Udupi Child Welfare Committee.

Based on the committee’s order, the children have been provided temporary rehabilitation at the Government Boys’ Children’s Home in Doddanagudde, Udupi.

The authorities will take further steps concerning the welfare and rehabilitation of the children in accordance with the directions of the Child Welfare Committee.
