Kundapur: Two local residents who played a crucial role in helping police swiftly trace the accused in the ₹80,000 theft reported at the Kollur temple were honoured by the Kundapur police on Wednesday. The appreciation ceremony was held at the police sub-divisional office, where Deputy Superintendent of Police H. D. Kulkarni presented certificates of appreciation to the duo in recognition of their timely assistance.
Police said the contribution of the two civilians enabled investigators to make rapid progress in the theft case, highlighting the importance of public cooperation in crime detection.
Citizens recognised for assisting investigation
The two individuals honoured were auto-rickshaw driver Naveen Poojary Dali of Kollur and Ganesh Achari Bankeshwar of Byndoor.
According to police, both extended valuable assistance during the investigation into the ₹80,000 theft that occurred at the Kollur temple two days earlier. Their support helped officers quickly trace the accused involved in the case.
Acknowledging their role, the police presented them with certificates of appreciation as a gesture of recognition for their civic responsibility and cooperation.
Police praise public cooperation
Speaking during the programme, police officials emphasised that community participation often plays a significant role in solving criminal cases promptly.
They noted that timely information and assistance from members of the public can strengthen investigations and help law enforcement agencies identify and apprehend suspects more efficiently.
The recognition of the two citizens was intended to encourage greater public cooperation with the police in maintaining law and order.
Senior officers attend felicitation
The appreciation ceremony was attended by several officers from the Kundapur police sub-division.
Among those present were Police Inspectors Jayaram Gowda, Santosh Kaikini and Shivakumar, along with Kollur Police Sub-Inspectors Vinay Korlahalli and Bhimashankar. Other police personnel from the Kundapur sub-division also attended the event.
Police reiterated their commitment to recognising citizens who contribute meaningfully to crime prevention and investigation, stating that such partnerships between the public and law enforcement are essential for ensuring public safety.
