Udupi: The Udupi District Bakery and Edible Food Manufacturers and Sellers Association celebrated its 10th anniversary with a grand function at the Kumkum Auditorium in Brahmavar City Centre on Sunday. The event also featured the launch of the logo for the upcoming Food Industry Fair, scheduled to be held in November, bringing together entrepreneurs, industry representatives and public leaders to promote the bakery and food manufacturing sector.
The programme highlighted the contribution of Udupi’s bakery and food industry to the local economy and recognised the region’s reputation for producing quality food products. Several dignitaries stressed the need to uphold quality standards, hygiene and innovation while supporting the growth of entrepreneurs in the sector.
MLA Yashpal launches Suvarna Sangha logo
Addressing the gathering, Udupi MLA Yashpal unveiled the logo of the Suvarna Sangha and praised the district’s food industry for earning widespread recognition.
He said Udupi’s ready-to-eat food products and traditional snacks have gained popularity not only across India but also in many parts of the world. The MLA noted that hotels from Udupi are known for serving clean, hygienic and delicious food, creating a strong brand identity for the district.
He added that the hardworking nature of the people of Udupi has helped them achieve success wherever they have established businesses. Expressing confidence in the local bakery sector, he hoped that bakery products from Udupi would gain greater international recognition in the coming years.
Focus on quality and sustainability
Former MP K. Jayaprakash Hegde released the logo of the Indian Bakers Federation during the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, he emphasised the importance of promoting traditional and healthy food products while maintaining high standards of quality and cleanliness. He also urged entrepreneurs to pay greater attention to scientific waste management and environmentally responsible practices.
Hegde appreciated the association’s efforts in working collectively to address the challenges faced by bakery owners and food manufacturers and said such organised initiatives would strengthen the industry.
Anniversary and state association logos unveiled
Former Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake unveiled the official logo marking the association’s 10th anniversary celebrations.
Kundapur MLA Kiran Kumar Kodgi released the logo of the Karnataka Bakery and Sweets Association, highlighting the importance of collaboration among industry bodies to promote the interests of bakery entrepreneurs across the state.
The logo launches symbolised the association’s commitment to expanding the bakery and food manufacturing sector while encouraging innovation and cooperation within the industry.
Industry leaders participate
The programme was attended by several prominent entrepreneurs and officials from various departments.
Among the chief guests were entrepreneurs Prasad Raj Kanchan, Muniyalu Udayakumar Shetty, Santosh Wagle, Belapu Devi Prasad Shetty, Manohar Shetty and Ravi Shetty of the Trade Union, Byndoor.
Joint Director of Industries Gokul Das Nayak and Assistant Director of the Department of Planning and Youth Empowerment Roshan Kumar Shetty also participated in the event and interacted with members of the association.
