Udupi – Bishop Rev Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo of the Udupi Catholic Diocese has strongly condemned the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in the tragic loss of innocent lives. Expressing profound grief, he urged for unity, compassion, and peace in the face of such senseless violence.

In a heartfelt press statement, Bishop Lobo said, “I express my deepest sorrow and strongly denounce the brutal act in Pahalgam. This violence, which has shattered families and taken innocent lives, is a grave violation of human dignity and has no place in any just society.”

He reminded all of the sacred value of human life, emphasizing that the pain of such tragedies transcends boundaries of religion, region, or background. “Every human life is sacred. Acts of terror wound not just individuals but our collective conscience,” he noted.

Quoting Pope Francis, Bishop Lobo reinforced the message that “fraternity is the true foundation of lasting peace,” and called upon people of all faiths and beliefs to uphold mutual respect and compassion.

He extended condolences to the grieving families, prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured, and called on communities and leaders to respond with strength, unity, and a renewed resolve to build a peaceful society.
