The Udupi district administration has proposed constructing a glass bridge at Kaup Beach, spanning two rocks to provide panoramic views of the Arabian Sea. The project, part of a larger tourism initiative, also includes laser shows near Kaup’s historic 1901 lighthouse, pending government approval. Deputy Commissioner Vidya Kumari K shared, “We’ve submitted proposals, and tenders will be called upon approval.”
The administration also plans to develop Trasi-Maravanthe and Someshwar beaches, along with kayaking and boating activities, to enhance tourism. A unique experiential program will soon allow visitors to experience coastal life by participating in fishing activities, anticipated to launch in three months in locations like Gangolli and Malpe.
Udupi has also received Rs 10 crore from the Union government for sustainable tourism projects, including a proposed 25 km beachfront cycle path from Kaup to Padukere. The district will soon submit a detailed project report for these initiatives.
