The Udupi district police have intensified their efforts to tackle corruption and negligence within their ranks, with around 80 personnel, including four sub-inspectors, suspended over the past year under the supervision of Superintendent Dr. Arun K. This action comes in response to allegations of involvement in illegal activities, such as sand mining, and general misconduct.

Dr. Arun K has maintained strict oversight, ensuring swift action when wrongdoing is detected. Some suspended officers have been reassigned after serving their suspension, while others facing minor charges were reinstated following investigations.

Public complaints against police officers are being actively pursued, with sub-inspectors investigated by Circle Inspectors and complaints against inspectors reviewed by the DYSP. Suspended officers receive half pay and can appeal to the Inspector General if they believe the charges are unfounded.

Dr. Arun K emphasized, “This is a gradual process aimed at strengthening the department and ensuring officers uphold law and order.”
