Udupi– In a decisive step to maintain public order and avert potential unrest, Udupi district police have issued an externment order against Satish Poojary, a known rowdy-sheeter from Davanagere, prohibiting his entry into Udupi district from July 7 to September 7.
The move comes ahead of a major protest scheduled for July 7 at 4 PM, near the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Manipal, led by Rajesh Uchila, district convener of the Hindu Jagarana Vedike, targeting the Karnataka government’s alleged anti-Hindu stance. Additional protests are also planned across Karkala, Kundapura, and Udupi taluks.
According to intelligence inputs, Satish Poojary was secretly invited to participate as a key speaker at the event. Given his criminal background and history of making provocative speeches, authorities feared his involvement could spark communal tensions and disrupt law and order.
A senior police official said, “We received reliable information suggesting his presence might incite unrest.”
With upcoming festivals like Vinayaka Chaturthi and Krishna Janmashtami expected to draw large public gatherings, officials are taking preemptive action to ensure peace is preserved during this sensitive time.
The Superintendent of Police confirmed that a formal report led to the decision, stating: “To uphold communal harmony and prevent public disturbance, we have barred Satish Poojary from entering the district for two months.”
The police continue to monitor protest-related activities closely.
