Udupi: In a swift operation on Saturday night, Kapu police foiled a robbery bid and arrested six suspects. The accused were travelling on National Highway 66 in a Scorpio car.
According to reports, Kapu CI Jayshree Mane spotted the Scorpio parked in a suspicious manner on the Udyavara bridge while on her way from Udupi. She attempted to stop the vehicle, but the occupants sped away recklessly towards Kapu.
Alert Mane immediately alerted both Kapu and Padubidri police stations. A team led by Kapu PSI Abdul Khader managed to intercept the Scorpio near Kothalkatte.
Upon apprehending the occupants, a search of the vehicle revealed incriminating evidence, including a dragon, a knife, an iron pipe, and a mixture of sand and chili powder. These items suggest the group was planning a robbery.
The arrested men have been identified as Amit Raj, Prakash Suratkal, Varun Neermarga, Karthik Shetty Suratkal, Abhishek, and Shrikant Shripathi Parangipet. The police are investigating the case.
