A meeting of private bus owners in Udupi city was held at the Malpe Circle Inspector’s office, where important safety directives were issued. Bus owners and managers were informed that all private buses must install doors by October 31, 2024, and passengers must not be allowed to travel on footboards.

In addition, loud horns are to be removed from buses, and drivers were strictly instructed not to use mobile phones while driving. To enhance safety, the installation of CCTV cameras on buses was recommended. Drivers and conductors were also advised to treat women and children with respect and follow traffic regulations closely.

The meeting was attended by Udupi DySP D T Prabhu, probationary DySP Geeta Patil, assistant regional transport officer L P Naik, motor vehicle inspector Maruti Naik, Malpe circle inspector Manjunath M, and Udupi traffic police station PSI Sudarshan Doddamani.
