Udupi: In a swift operation, Manipal police have arrested a man accused of running a prostitution racket from a flat in Udupi. A young woman, allegedly confined and exploited, was rescued during the raid.
The accused, Ganesh Ganapa Naik (38), a native of Jalavalli in Honnavar Taluk, was found operating from Room No. 103 of Mahalasa Emerald Apartments, located near 20th Cross, Ishwaranagar, Herga village.
Acting on a tip-off received on July 16, police launched a raid and rescued the woman from the premises. Naik was taken into custody and has since been produced before the court.
Authorities revealed that a second suspect managed to escape during the operation and is currently absconding. Efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the individual.
A case has been officially registered at the Manipal police station, and investigations are ongoing to uncover the full scope of the operation.
