Udupi: The Udupi district administration has released the latest status of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, covering voter registration, notice delivery, inquiries and disposal of claims and objections across the district.
According to the latest details issued as per the directions of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Udupi district has 10,00,754 registered voters, comprising 4,84,236 men, 5,16,509 women and nine third-gender voters. The district has 1,244 polling stations.
Over 97,000 SIR notices generated
A total of 97,673 notices have been generated as part of the SIR exercise in Udupi district. Of these, 84,120 notices have been served, accounting for 86.12% of the total.
Another 13,553 notices are pending delivery.
Among the notices already served, inquiries have been completed in 18,371 cases, while inquiries into 65,749 notices remain pending.
The district administration has set October 12 as the last date for conducting inquiries. The deadline for disposal of claims and objections is October 22, following which the final electoral roll will be published on October 27.
The administration has urged eligible voters to complete the required verification and documentation within the stipulated deadlines to avoid difficulties during the finalisation of the electoral roll.
44,841 applications received
Udupi district has also received 44,841 applications under Forms 6, 6A, 7 and 8.
Of these, 10,231 are Form 6 applications seeking inclusion of new voters in the electoral roll. Another 321 Form 6A applications have been received from Non-Resident Indians (NRIs).
A total of 744 Form 7 applications have been submitted seeking objections to or deletion of names from the electoral roll.
The largest share comprises 33,545 Form 8 applications, which relate to corrections in electoral roll details, replacement of EPICs and identification of persons with disabilities.
The administration has advised eligible citizens to make use of the available facilities to ensure that their electoral details are correctly reflected in the rolls.
Special campaign on September 19 and 20
A second-phase special campaign will be conducted at all polling stations in Udupi district on September 19 and 20.
The campaign is aimed at ensuring that all eligible citizens are enrolled in the electoral roll and are able to complete the necessary application and verification procedures.
Young men and women who will attain the age of 18 years as on October 1, 2026, will be eligible to apply for inclusion in the electoral roll.
The district administration has encouraged eligible first-time voters to make use of the special campaign and submit their applications with the required documents.
Special facility for senior citizens and NRIs
A special facility has been provided for senior citizens, persons with disabilities, those suffering from illness and NRIs who may face difficulties in personally visiting the concerned offices.
Under the arrangement, an adult family member can visit the concerned Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) or Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) office on their behalf and submit the required documents and information for disposal of notices.
The facility is intended to make the SIR verification process more accessible to people who are unable to visit government offices personally.
Voters can search using EPIC number
The district administration has also pointed out that the reorganisation of polling stations and changes in serial numbers may have resulted in changes to the Part Number or Serial Number of some voters.
Voters who are unable to locate their names using their old Part Number can search for their names using their EPIC number through the Election Commission’s voter portal or the ECINET mobile application.
Citizens have been advised to verify their electoral details and take appropriate action if they find discrepancies or are unable to locate their names.
How to apply for new voter registration
Eligible citizens can apply online for inclusion in the electoral roll by submitting Form 6 through the voter portal or the ECINET app.
The application should be accompanied by self-attested documents serving as proof of age and address.
Alternatively, applicants can submit the filled Form 6 and declaration, along with the required documents, to the concerned Booth Level Officer (BLO) or at the ERO/AERO office.
The district administration has urged eligible citizens, particularly new voters, to complete the registration process within the prescribed time.
