Udupi: To commemorate the 90th birthday of renowned artist Peter A Lewis and celebrate his extraordinary contribution to the world of art, Daddyz Art Gallery, in association with Udupi Konkans and Daijiworld, will organise a special art competition and exhibition in his honour. The event, open exclusively to participants and volunteers from Udupi district, will be held on Sunday, August 9, at the Anugraha Pastoral Centre in Kakkunje, Udupi.
The programme aims to pay tribute to Lewis’ lifelong dedication to artistic excellence while encouraging young and aspiring artists to showcase their creativity.
Competition theme and categories
The art competition will be based on the theme “He has made everything beautiful in its time” (Ecclesiastes 3:11).
The contest has been divided into three age groups:
- 12 years and below – A4 canvas
- 13 to 24 years – A3 canvas
- 25 years and above – A3 canvas
The organisers will provide the canvas sheets for all participants. However, contestants must bring their own art materials, including paints, brushes, pencils and other required supplies.
Event schedule
Registration at the venue will begin at 9.30 am, followed by the art competition from 10.30 am to 2.30 pm.
Lunch will be served to participants at 1.30 pm.
After lunch, the organisers will conduct a live auction featuring paintings created by Peter A Lewis as well as artworks produced by participants during the competition.
The top five highest-bid paintings across all categories will be displayed in a public exhibition until 3 pm on August 12.
The prize distribution and closing ceremony will be held on August 12 at 4 pm.

The organisers have fixed August 2 as the last date for registrations.
Participants must register through the official Daddyz Art Gallery website to obtain a unique artist reference number. This reference number will be used during the auction process to ensure anonymity and fairness.
