Udupi: The All India Mobile Retailers Association (AIMRA), under the aegis of the Udupi Mobile Retailers Association (UMRA), will organise a state-level retailers’ convention and celebrate UMRA’s 12th anniversary at Town Hall in Ajjarkad on Saturday, October 24.

The programme will bring together mobile retailers, entrepreneurs, industry representatives and public figures to discuss the challenges faced by local businesses and explore ways to support entrepreneurship. A Mega Mobile Expo, a special interaction with former IPS officer K. Annamalai and the installation of UMRA’s new office-bearers will be among the key events.

Addressing a press conference in Udupi, UMRA president Vivek G. Suvarna said the association was established to protect the interests of local mobile retailers, promote honest business practices and provide customers with quality service.

Mega Mobile Expo to open at 10 am

The Mega Mobile Expo will be inaugurated at 10 am. Sri Vidyavallabha Teertha Swamiji of Kaniyur Matha will offer his blessings on the occasion.

The expo and convention are intended to provide a platform for retailers to come together, exchange ideas and address issues affecting their businesses. According to Suvarna, the association has helped resolve several longstanding problems faced by retailers within its first year of functioning.

He said UMRA was committed to ensuring that local traders had a collective voice and access to a platform where their concerns could be raised and addressed.

K. Annamalai to interact with young entrepreneurs

A special dialogue with K. Annamalai, former IPS officer and founder of ‘We the Leaders’, is scheduled for 10.30 am.

The session will focus on the theme “Building the Entrepreneurs of Tomorrow, Preserving the Local Businesses of Today.” Annamalai will interact with young entrepreneurs and prominent personalities from the social media sphere.

The discussion is expected to address entrepreneurship, the importance of supporting local businesses and the challenges faced by emerging business owners.

Young entrepreneurs and other interested members of the public have been invited to participate. The session will also include a question-and-answer segment, allowing attendees to interact with the speakers and share their views.

New UMRA office-bearers to be installed

The installation ceremony for UMRA’s new office-bearers will take place at 5.30 pm.

Nadoja Dr G. Shankar will inaugurate the programme. National-level office-bearers of AIMRA, legislators from Udupi district, political leaders and local dignitaries are expected to attend.

The ceremony will mark the association’s 12th anniversary and provide an opportunity to review its work in representing mobile retailers and strengthening the local retail sector.

Mobile shops to close after 2 pm

In view of the convention and anniversary celebrations, mobile shops owned by UMRA members will remain closed after 2 pm on October 24.

The association has called on retailers, entrepreneurs and members of the public to participate in the programme.

Those present at the press conference included AIMRA state secretary Suhas Kini, UMRA secretary Imran, vice-president Sudarshan, honorary president Sandesh Ballal and Malpe zone president Sandeep G. Suvarna.

Through the convention, Mega Mobile Expo and entrepreneurs’ dialogue, the association aims to bring attention to the role of local mobile retailers and encourage greater support for small businesses.
