Udupi: Former MLA K. Raghupathi Bhat has alleged that a systematic conspiracy is being waged against Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala. To counter this and create public awareness, he announced that a large-scale protest meeting will be organized in Udupi district by the end of August.

Speaking to reporters, Bhat welcomed the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe, stating that it has helped clear many doubts surrounding the issue.

Highlighting the role of Dharmasthala, he said the temple is not just a religious institution but also a pillar of social service, where funds are distributed transparently. “From grants of ₹1 lakh to ₹1 crore, numerous religious centers have benefited. At the grassroots level, thousands of people have been supported through the temple’s initiatives,” he added.

Bhat stressed that every section of society, including the most marginalized, should speak up against the propaganda targeting Dharmasthala. He asserted that the upcoming protest will be a people’s movement in defense of faith and social welfare.
