Following the expiration of the deadline for the removal of shrill horns, Udupi traffic police took decisive action on July 1 to enforce the rule. The deadline, set for June 15, mandated the removal of shrill horns from buses. Despite instructions, some buses were still found using these horns and were promptly inspected and had them removed at the bus stop.
Sudarshana Doddamani, Traffic Sub-Inspector, and his team conducted inspections as part of efforts to curb noise pollution caused by private buses in Udupi. The initiative is aimed at addressing growing concerns over excessive noise levels generated by these vehicles.
The enforcement action underscores the police department’s commitment to ensuring compliance with noise regulations and improving public tranquility. It also serves to remind bus operators of their responsibility to adhere to environmental and noise pollution norms.
