Udupi Traffic Police Enforces New Guidelines for City and Service Buses

Udupi, Jun 5: A meeting of Udupi city and service bus owners was held with the Udupi traffic police at the Udupi police station on June 3, Monday.

The meeting released a few mandatory guidelines. Loud horns installed in buses must be removed by June 15, and tape recorders and speakers inside the bus must be taken out.

During the meeting, the owners were informed that all buses must mandatorily have CCTV cameras inside. Buses should operate according to the scheduled time and must be on time. No passengers can be picked up on the way. Drivers must stop at the bus stop on the way at Karavali Junction for smooth public and vehicular movement.

The meeting also decided on mandatory uniforms for drivers and conductors while on duty. Drivers were instructed not to drive the bus at excessive speeds, not to use mobile phones while driving, and not to drink and drive.

All these guidelines are mandated to be followed, and appropriate legal action will be taken if not complied with.
