Udupi: The immersion of the ‘Sankashtahara Ganapathi’ idol of the Kadiyali Udupi Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava, popularly known as the ‘King of Udupi’, was held at Malpe Beach amid the participation of devotees on Monday.
The immersion procession began at Kadiyali and passed through several parts of the city, including Kalsanka and the area near Krishna Matha, before proceeding towards Malpe Beach.

Large numbers of devotees gathered along the roadsides to witness the procession and offer prayers to Lord Ganapati.
The procession featured various cultural troupes and musical ensembles, which added to the festive atmosphere. Devotees followed the idol as it made its way through the city towards the immersion venue.
The annual celebration brought together devotees from Udupi and surrounding areas, with the procession becoming a prominent part of the city’s Ganeshotsava festivities.
Paryaya Pontiff offers Mangalarati
Near Krishna Matha, Sri Vedavardhana Tirtha Sripada, Paryaya Pontiff of Shiroor Matha, performed Mangalarati to Lord Sankashtahara Ganapati.
The ritual formed one of the significant moments of the immersion procession as devotees gathered to seek the blessings of the deity.
Special ‘60’ garland marks Diamond Jubilee
A special offering was also made to Lord Ganapati to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the Kadiyali Udupi Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava.
A devotee prepared a garland in the shape of the number ‘60’ using litchi fruits and offered it to the deity. The distinctive offering drew attention during the celebrations and served as a symbolic representation of the festival’s 60th anniversary.
Following the procession through the city, the Sankashtahara Ganapathi idol was immersed at Malpe Beach, bringing the celebrations to a close.
