Karkala: A truck carrying watermelons overturned after colliding with a car near the Nitte Primary School bus stop in Nitte, Karkala taluk, on Wednesday, September 2.
The accident occurred when the truck collided with the car near the bus stop, following which the truck overturned on the roadside. A large quantity of watermelons being transported in the vehicle spilled onto the road and surrounding area.
Car suffers extensive damage
The collision caused severe damage to the front portion of the car. The impact also disrupted the movement of vehicles in the area for some time as the overturned truck and scattered watermelons affected the roadway.
Despite the severity of the collision, the occupants of the car reportedly escaped without sustaining serious injuries.
The incident could have resulted in more serious consequences as it occurred near a school bus stop. However, no major injuries were reported in the accident.
Police clear road after accident
Rural police reached the spot after receiving information about the incident and conducted an inspection.
Following the inspection, police and others cleared the overturned vehicle and the watermelons scattered along the roadside. Traffic movement was subsequently restored in the area.
The circumstances that led to the collision are yet to be ascertained.
