Udupi: The Women India Movement (WIM), Karnataka, staged a protest near Jodukatte in Udupi, demanding that the state government immediately withdraw its decision to increase the prices of milk and milk products.
Addressing the protest, Women India Movement Udupi district secretary Naseema Zarai alleged that the government was placing an additional financial burden on ordinary people by increasing the prices of essential dairy products.
She said rising prices would further affect families already struggling with unemployment and economic difficulties. Since milk and milk products are part of everyday household consumption, the price increase would directly affect family budgets, she pointed out.
WIM demands withdrawal of price hike
Naseema Zarai demanded that the government reconsider its decision and withdraw the price increases to provide relief to the public.
She alleged that the additional cost of essential commodities would make it more difficult for economically vulnerable families to manage their daily expenses.
The organisation called on the state government to ensure justice for the general public and avoid measures that could increase the financial pressure on households.
WIM Udupi district president Nasir Hasrat and other leaders and activists participated in the protest.
