CANACONA: Karwar MLA Satish Sail has strongly criticized the Canacona police for allegedly harassing non-Goan vehicles entering Goa via the Polem border. He has called upon Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant to intervene and take appropriate action against this practice.
Sail expressed concern over the repeated stopping and checking of vehicles at Shellim, merely 800 meters inside the Polem border, despite them having already passed through Goa’s Polem Checkpost. He questioned the necessity and fairness of subjecting Karnataka and Karwar vehicles to additional checks after they have already undergone verification at the state border.
Highlighting the historical relationship between Karwar and Goa, Sail warned that continued harassment could strain these ties. He urged for a cessation of what he termed as arbitrary practices by the Canacona Police, emphasizing that such actions undermine peaceful interstate relations.
The MLA underscored the need for Goa Police to reconsider their approach and ensure fair treatment of motorists entering Goa from Karnataka, urging for a swift resolution to the issue to prevent further discontent among travelers.
