In a major development in the Karwar murder case, the body of Guruprasad Rane, the prime suspect, was recovered from the Mandovi River near Betim jetty. Rane was accused of orchestrating the murder of businessman Vinayak Naik, who was brutally killed while his wife sustained serious injuries.

Naik, who operated an electrical company in Pune, was attacked along with his wife in their home in Hankon village early in the morning on September 3. The couple had been in Karwar for a temple fair and were planning to return to Pune.

Rane had allegedly arranged a “Supari” to carry out the murder. Authorities from Karwar and Goa are jointly investigating the case to uncover further details.
