Bhatkal: Damodar Eerayya Gonda, a 32-year-old manual worker from Katagarakoppa Mullepala in Murdeshwar, tragically succumbed to injuries sustained when an electricity pole fell on him while he was working at the HESCOM office. The incident occurred on Friday, sending shockwaves through the community.
Gonda was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Kundapur following the accident. Surgeons conducted an operation to address severe injuries to his thigh, but complications arose as he developed respiratory distress later on. Due to his critical condition, he was subsequently transferred to a private hospital in Manipal for advanced medical care. Despite intensive efforts by medical professionals, Gonda did not respond positively to treatment and passed away, sources confirmed.
Bhatkal Town Police have registered a case in this regard and are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident to ascertain any negligence or factors leading to the accident.
