Vijayapura: MLA Yashwantraya Gowda Patil expressed dissatisfaction with water management, specifically in Indi taluk of Vijayapura district. He criticized the administrative machinery for inefficiencies in delivering water to the end of the canal. Patil highlighted the pressing issue of drinking water scarcity in the district, especially in villages relying on canal water for their drinking water schemes. Regardless of political affiliations, he stressed that addressing water problems should be a top priority.
Patil called for the development of Indi taluk and proposed its elevation to district status, citing examples from other regions and emphasizing the benefits of micro-management administration. While acknowledging the government’s positive response to their demand, he regretted that projects have been concentrated in the latter part of Indi. Patil asserted that if the demand for district status is not met by 2028, he would not participate in the assembly elections.
Addressing questions about a potential change in Chief Minister, Patil dismissed the issue as not being proposed before him. He expressed frustration with questions about a CM change and emphasized their commitment to working under the leadership of Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar.
Regarding Prime Minister Modi’s corruption allegations against CM Siddaramaiah, Patil defended the Chief Minister’s integrity, stating that Modi’s remarks were politically motivated and not reflective of reality. Patil highlighted Siddaramaiah’s popularity, noting that Modi mentioned his name even in Madhya Pradesh. He concluded by suggesting that Modi might be remembering Siddaramaiah due to the positive changes brought about by the government’s guarantee schemes.
