8-year old cancer patient finds love of his life

Most parents might raise an eyebrow when they hear their 8-year-old son is already dating and making declarations of love. However, David Spisak’s mother, Amber, is grateful that her son gets to experience one of life’s greatest gifts. The Chesapeake, Virginia, boy was diagnosed with cancer when he was two year old. After two transplants, his cancer has been persistent. It was this March, when it returned for a 4th time, that David’s parents decided to stop the intensive treatments and allow him to live a normal life. The cost is a shorter but more enjoyable life.

When Amber found out her son was dating 7-year-old Ayla, she knew she had to allow him this one last, beautiful thing. “She kinda looks like Snow White,” David said. “Actually, she is kinda like the real Snow White because she is so kind to everybody, especially me because she loves me.”

Amber decided to reach out to Ayla’s mom, Angela — the two moms agreed that this was something special. Since the two have formed their bond David has been happier than ever, his spirit is revived, and in what seems like so much darkness — the last days of his life — he’s found a little light, and her name is Ayla.

“Their story is definitely something everyone can learn from,” says Angela. “Just to love… At the end of every day that’s what’s important. Who loves you and who you love back.”
