Dubai, Jan 13: Language is not a barrier for an actor. Just as the whole world is a canvas for an artist, for an  actor any platform will help him/her to show acting skills.  India being a multi-lingual nation, other language artists who come to our industry not only make us feel our own but also create long-lasting impression in our minds.

In a way there is a close rapport between Telugu and Kannada film industry. In the past, Kannada film makers relied on Hyderabad for technical assistance. However, the strong bonding between the two languages, was not restricted to mere technical aspects   but also extended to  artists of both regions.  In the present times, talented Kannada stars like Sudeep, Prakash Raj, have shined in Tollywood. Similarly, Telugu star Ramanandam, is ready to stand out in Sandalwood.

But, here  is a  Kannadiga girl  who has  crossed the  language barrier and earned fame in Telugu industry. Talented star Anushka Shetty, who was born in a Bunt family of coastal Karnataka has best utilized the opportunities that came her way and got a break in Telugu industry. The actress who is now working with well known Telugu film stars also has successive hit films to her credit and is the preferred choice for many producers. Anushka who has proved her talent both in the Kannada as well as Telugu industry is presently holidaying in Dubai and enjoying quality time with her family.

NewsKarnataka had a chat with the actress who was spotted relishing her favourite cuisines at the Spice & Flavours, a restaurant owned by Mangalorean Rakesh Malli.

About her Mangalore origin:

I love my home town very much. I have spent my academic days in Mangalore. Though I have entered Telugu industry I am a  Bunt girl in letter and spirit.

On her Tollywood connections rather than becoming a Sandalwood Queen:

Rather than saying  I am away from Sandalwood, it is better if it said that  I got an opportunity in Tollywood industry. Along with Telugu, I  got a break in Tamil industry too. So my career started there and I became a Kannadiga actress in Telugu.

About acting in Kannada movies:

I couldn’t take-off in the Sandalood  mainly because the right occasion did not come though there were opportunities. In coming days if things go on well then probably I will get a chance to be a tri-language actress.

About future projects:

Currently, I am  busy with Telugu movies. I have a tight schedule as  along with  shooting, I am also busy with the promotions of Bahubali, Rudramadevi and other films.

On Dubai Visit:
This is just a family outing to come out of  the work stress.  I have taken a break to spend some more time along with my family. I will be back to work in Hyderabad in the next few days.

These were just a few things which Anushka shared with us during the time  she spent  with News Karnataka. Though, Anushka preferred to  remain away from media glare saying it was a private visit, she  was more than willing to sign autographs as well  please her fans who wanted to have a snapshot with her.

Our best wishes to the Kudla star and hope she would make her hometown much more proud through her performances.
