Welfare minister gives stern warning after attack on Mangalore salon
Health and Family Welfare Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao stressed strict action against law violators, addressing the recent vandalism of a salon by Rama Sena activists in Mangaluru. “If anyone suspects illegal activities in salons or massage parlours, they must report it to the authorities, not resort to violence. Moral policing tarnishes the image of Dakshina Kannada and Mangaluru,” he said on Sunday.
The minister condemned such vigilantism, highlighting its impact on investor confidence, who often question the region’s safety and law enforcement. He reaffirmed that no individual or group is above the law, urging everyone to denounce such actions.
Referring to the recent armed heist at the Kotekar Vyavasaya Seva Sahakari Sangha, Rao commended police efforts in recovering stolen items. He directed law enforcement to provide security guidelines to banks and urged financial institutions to bolster their safety measures.
On the state’s economic progress, Rao praised Karnataka’s guarantee schemes, noting their success in strengthening the economy and serving as a model for the nation. He revealed that central government officials are exploring these initiatives for broader implementation.
Dispelling rumors of a leadership change, Rao reaffirmed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s strong public support and the Congress party’s collective confidence in his leadership. He dismissed discussions about alternate leaders as irrelevant, asserting unity within the administration.
