1 Dead, 30 Injured In ‘Severe Turbulence’ On Singapore Airlines Flight

In a highly unusual occurrence, a tragic incident unfolded aboard a flight from London to Singapore, resulting in the loss of one passenger’s life and injuries to 30 others due to severe turbulence. Singapore Airlines has officially acknowledged the fatality.


Following the turbulent episode, the aircraft was compelled to execute an emergency landing in Bangkok.

Singapore Airlines, in a formal communication, disclosed that flight number SQ321, originating from Heathrow Airport in London on Monday with a destination of Singapore, encountered severe turbulence during its journey. Consequently, the flight was redirected to Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport, where it safely landed at 3:45 pm (local time) on Tuesday. The aircraft, a Boeing 777-300 ER, was carrying 211 passengers and 18 crew members.

Expressing heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, the airline stated, “We regret to confirm the presence of injuries and one fatality aboard the Boeing… Our primary focus is on extending all necessary support to the passengers and crew members. Collaborating closely with Thai authorities, we are facilitating essential medical aid and dispatching a team to Bangkok to provide further assistance as required.”
