An Israeli strike has reportedly hit a girls’ elementary school in Minab, southern Iran, killing 108 people, according to Iranian state media.
Mizan News Agency reported that the attack targeted the Shajareh Tayyebeh girls’ elementary school in Minab, located in Hormozgan province. Iran’s state-run Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) said 63 others were injured, with rescue teams continuing to clear debris from the site.
Officials condemn strike
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi shared an image of the aftermath, stating that the strike destroyed the school and killed “innocent children.” He said the attack “will not go unanswered.”
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei described the incident as a “blatant crime” and called on the United Nations Security Council to take action.
Separately, Mehr News Agency reported that at least two students were killed in another strike east of Tehran.
Wider conflict intensifies
The reported school strike comes amid a broader wave of joint US-Israeli military operations targeting sites across Iran. There was no immediate confirmation or response from US or Israeli officials regarding the allegations of civilian casualties.
The escalation follows weeks of heightened tension over Iran’s nuclear programme and regional security dynamics. Civilian casualties have previously been reported during earlier rounds of hostilities, including clashes in June 2025.
As rescue operations continue and diplomatic rhetoric sharpens, the latest developments risk deepening instability across the Middle East.
