An 11-year-old girl who was critically wounded in an Iranian cluster bomb attack in Bnei Brak has died after battling injuries for nearly three weeks.
The child was identified as Nesya Karadi.
She died at Sheba Medical Center on Friday.
Home struck before Passover
According to reports, Nesya was injured when her family home was hit by a submunition from a missile carrying a cluster bomb warhead on April 1.
The strike happened hours before the Passover festival.
Thirteen others were reportedly injured in the attack, including her father, who sustained moderate injuries.
City mourns child’s death
Hanoch Zeibert said the city was grieving the loss of a young girl whose future lay ahead of her.
Municipal authorities said support would be extended to the bereaved family during the time of mourning.
Civilian toll rises
Reports said Nesya became the 21st civilian killed in missile strikes linked to the conflict since late February.
The latest death has once again highlighted the heavy toll armed conflict places on children and civilian families.
Global concern grows
International concern continues over the use of cluster munitions and attacks in populated civilian areas.
Humanitarian groups repeatedly warn that explosive remnants and submunitions can continue causing casualties long after impact.
