A 6-week-old baby was mauled to death by the family’s dog while sleeping in his crib in US’ Tennessee. Ezra Mansoor was attacked by a seemingly tame husky that has been living with the family for eight years.
Six days after the surprise attack, on Thursday, little Ezra passed away from his wounds. According to ABC 7, he had been in critical condition in the hospital due to brain swelling and a brain bleed.
First-time parents Mark and Chloe Mansoor are inconsolable over the death of their son. Chloe told WVLT, “Being his mom was the biggest honor and the best thing I’ve ever done.”
The attack took the family by surprise as the dog had no history of aggression. The family had two dogs, but this incident was entirely “completely unprovoked,” Chloe revealed to the outlet.
The couple said that they never imagined their child’s safety would be at risk. Chloe said that it could have been “any dog at any time, completely unprovoked, no matter what the history is.”

In order to honor baby Ezra’s memory, the Mansoor family has decided to donate his organs to aid other infants in need. Chloe disclosed that despite the “gut-wrenching grieving process,” working to save the lives of others has brought them peace.
The family dog that was attacked was taken to a nearby animal shelter. The incident is presently under investigation by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.
