On January 13, a veterinary clinic in Istanbul, Turkey, shared the heartwarming story of a stray mother dog, later named “Mom,” who appeared on the clinic’s doorstep with her ill puppy.
As she carefully carried her puppy in her mouth through the rainy streets, a vet technician named Emir noticed her and swiftly rushed to help. Initially, the team thought the puppy, a male, was dead. “We couldn’t tell if the pup was alive,” said Baturalp Dogan, a veterinarian at the clinic. “It was so cold.”
Upon checking, Emir faintly heard the puppy’s heartbeat with a stethoscope. Realizing there was still hope, the clinic team worked quickly, administering adrenaline and using a hair dryer to warm the puppy. All the while, Mom stayed close by, anxiously watching her baby’s treatment.
Thanks to the team’s quick response, the pup survived, and it was later revealed that another of Mom’s puppies had been brought in earlier, leaving two survivors from her litter of six. Mom and her pups are now recovering well, with the clinic hopeful for their future.
