Rohtak: In a deal that was formalised in Haryanas Singwa Khas village on Tuesday, a buffalo, that has won many beauty ramps and contests tail down, was sold off by her owner to an Andhra Pradesh farmer for Rs 25 lakh.Besides, she promises the buyer 30-litre milk on third lactation.
Luxmis new owner Sarpanch sees a big profit in the buy. The Andhra Pradesh government is hosting the best cattle contest in January 2014 and the winner will romp home with 1 kg gold! That is Rs. 28.40 lakh”plus the proceeds from the milk sale. “With Luxmis past wins, she is unbeatable,” says her former owner Kapoor Singh.
In fact, Singhs confidence isn’t out of place. Luxmi has won several awards, maximum worth Rs. 3 lakh, at various livestock competitions, including the Muktsar animal fare where she notched the top slot in milk production and was adjudged the best Murrah breed animal.
But, Kapoor Singh will never forget Luxmi. He still remembers how she entered his house with a calf and became famous by winning Rs. 21,000 in a ramp contest right away.
