A heartwarming video of a bulldog carefully trying to pet a cat the way his owner does has taken social media by storm, delighting animal lovers and reinforcing the idea that friendship truly knows no species.
Dog learns affection by watching his human
The viral clip, shared on TikTok by user @pearlsare4ever, shows Bruce, a bulldog, gently pawing the head of Batman, a black cat, in an attempt to give him affectionate strokes. The moment was captured by their owner, Aiyana Knight, who noticed Bruce mimicking the way she pets Batman.
The caption on the video reads: “My dog watching us pet the cat, so now he does too,” a line that perfectly sums up the innocent imitation that has charmed viewers worldwide.
An inseparable bond between dog and cat
Knight, who lives in California, told Newsweek that Bruce and Batman share an exceptionally close bond. “They’re attached to each other,” she said, explaining that the two are rarely apart and do almost everything together.
According to Knight, the pair play together, cuddle, sleep in the same bed, and even show mutual affection — with Batman kneading on Bruce and the bulldog often “petting” the cat. Despite being a bit heavy-pawed at times, Bruce’s gestures are welcomed, and Batman appears to enjoy the attention.

Bruce’s careful nature dates back to when Batman was first introduced as a tiny kitten. Knight said it was clear the dog understood how delicate his new companion was and adjusted his behaviour accordingly.
