In a dramatic turn of events in Stellenbosch, South Africa, a highly venomous Cape Cobra was discovered hiding under a bedroom pillow, sending homeowners into a panic. Alarmed by the dangerous situation, they reached out to experienced reptile wrangler Emile Rossouw for help.
The dramatic rescue was caught on video and quickly went viral. The footage shows Rossouw cautiously entering the room and lifting the pillow to reveal the deadly cobra hissing in warning. After stepping back briefly, Rossouw takes control of the situation, tossing the pillow aside and grabbing the snake as it attempts to slither away. With the cobra coiled in his hand, he safely exits the room and prepares a container to secure the snake.
Rossouw’s team, @stellenbosch_snake_removals, posted the video on Instagram, noting that the Cape Cobra can vary in color from dark brown to yellow and is often confused with other snakes like the Mole Snake or Black Spitting Cobra.
