For four years, Gary and Anna Gray have dedicated their time and creativity to making Christmas unforgettable. Since December 2020, their home in Armadale, West Lothian, has become a hub of festive cheer. They transform it into a vibrant Christmas light extravaganza, featuring over 24,000 lights and around 150 dazzling props. These include a towering LED Christmas tree, festive candy canes, and glowing angel wings. Every light and decoration is meticulously programmed to dance in harmony with music, all managed from Gary’s laptop.
The ambitious project requires 10 months of detailed planning and another six weeks to assemble. Throughout December, crowds gather nightly to marvel at what is now affectionately called the “Armadale Illuminations.”
Over the years, the Grays’ light show has raised substantial funds for various causes, including Cancer Research UK, the British Heart Foundation, and a local organization, the Armadale Shed. This year, the couple is supporting Alzheimer’s Scotland, a tribute to Anna’s late grandmother who lived with dementia.
However, 2024 marks the final chapter of their festive tradition. The Grays are determined to make this last display their most spectacular yet, ensuring their legacy of joy and charity continues to shine.
Their inspiring efforts have brought light to their community and hope to countless lives.
