The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has served a notice to an outlet of a multinational fast-food restaurant chain in Coimbatore after a customer alleged that a chicken burger purchased from the restaurant contained live worms.

The incident has raised concerns over food safety standards and hygiene practices at popular quick-service restaurants. Following the complaint, food safety officials launched an inspection at the outlet located in the Nava India area on Avinashi Road.

FSSAI conducts inspection

A food safety officer from FSSAI’s Coimbatore division inspected the restaurant’s kitchen, storage facilities and raw materials following the customer’s allegation.

Officials examined food handling procedures, ingredient storage conditions and overall hygiene standards at the outlet. Samples and records were also reviewed as part of the inspection process.

The notice was issued to the restaurant management seeking an explanation regarding the complaint and the conditions under which the food item was prepared and served.
