Cleveland: What began as a fun run with his one-year-old daughter turned into a world-record achievement for US doctor and runner Stephen Biebelhausen.
Biebelhausen completed a mile while pushing his daughter Blake in a pram in 4 minutes 17.784 seconds, setting the Guinness World Records title for the fastest mile pushing a pram by a male. He achieved the feat during the Guardian Mile in Cleveland, Ohio.
A family run becomes a record
The 30-year-old emergency room doctor had initially hoped simply to enjoy the race with his daughter and possibly beat the course record of 4 minutes 44 seconds.
The world record, however, seemed beyond his expectations. He had checked the existing record out of curiosity before the race, but only began believing it was within reach after reaching the halfway point in 2 minutes 12 seconds.
Biebelhausen then pushed harder and finished nearly 10 seconds faster than the previous record, set by Silas Frantz with his son Otto in June 2025.
Running brings father and daughter closer
Biebelhausen regularly runs three or four times a week with Blake. Although pushing a pram makes running physically more demanding, he says his daughter’s enjoyment makes the effort worthwhile.
He had completed just one mile-speed training session with the pram before the race, mainly to ensure Blake was comfortable and that he could run safely at that pace.
His wife, Meghan, watched from the sidelines and immediately realised something special had happened when she saw her husband celebrate after crossing the finish line.
A record filled with family joy
For Biebelhausen, the achievement was not originally about setting a world record. It was about spending time with his daughter and sharing something he loves.
The unexpected result has now turned an ordinary family running routine into a memorable Guinness World Records achievement — one that father and daughter can celebrate together for years to come.
