In a riveting sequence captured by dashcam footage, an intense moment unfolded as a semi-truck teetered perilously over the Ohio River in Louisville. The video, showcased in court on Wednesday, coincided with the appearance of Trevor Brehnam, a pick-up truck driver, linked to the incident. Brehnam’s vehicle veered out of its lane to avoid colliding with a stalled car, subsequently colliding with the semi-truck. The driver of the semi-truck, identified as Sydney Thomas, aged 26, maneuvered frantically in an attempt to evade other vehicles on the bridge, ultimately propelling the truck over the edge and leaving it suspended above the river.

The event occurred on March 1 on the Clark Memorial Bridge spanning the Ohio River.
Jefferson County Kentucky Attorney’s Office unveiled footage of the occurrence, depicting a split-screen presentation. The top portion showcased the truck driver, while the bottom displayed the view ahead of the vehicle.
Within moments, the truck breached the guardrail, with Thomas audibly distressed until the vehicle finally halted, suspended over the river.
Reflecting on the harrowing experience, Thomas, fighting back tears, expressed, “This is the closest I’ve been. Sometimes you pray, and I’m guilty of this, I pray, and I don’t think God is listening. But he was that day,” as reported by WHAS11.
Her father, an experienced semi-truck driver himself, attributed the fortunate outcome to divine intervention, stating, “It didn’t really hit me until I looked over to my right and I’d seen that equipment hanging into the air. That rescue was nothing but God displaying himself to me,” Marc Thomas said.
Despite the passage of time, the 26-year-old remains apprehensive about traversing the bridge, even as a passenger. “I got in an Uber one day and he was about to go across that bridge. I said ‘No! You can’t do that’,” she recounted.
While Thomas plans to return to work on June 1, she intends to steer clear of operating another semi-truck immediately.
