Eight people have been injured in Qatar after missile shrapnel landed in multiple locations across the country following a barrage of Iranian missiles, authorities confirmed on Saturday.

Brigadier Abdullah Khalifa Al-Muftah, head of public relations at Qatar’s Ministry of Interior, said 66 missiles were fired towards Qatar. Authorities received 114 reports of falling debris nationwide. One of the injured remains in serious condition.

The Qatar Ministry of Defence stated that air defence systems “successfully intercepted” the missiles before they reached Qatari territory. A second wave of attacks was also reportedly neutralised.

The Qatar Ministry of Interior issued an emergency alert urging residents to remain indoors, avoid military sites and refrain from handling unidentified debris.

Foreign Ministry condemns attack

The Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned what it described as a “reckless and irresponsible” act and a violation of Qatari sovereignty. Officials said Qatar reserves the right to respond in accordance with international law while calling for de-escalation and a return to negotiations.

The missile barrage followed escalating tensions after joint US-Israeli strikes targeted sites in Iran. Several Gulf states, including Kuwait, the UAE and Bahrain, reported intercepting missiles, while Jordan also activated its air defences.

This is not the first such incident. In June 2025, during a 12-day conflict, Iran launched missiles at Al Udeid Air Base, a major facility hosting US forces.

As airspace disruptions and security alerts ripple across the Gulf, regional leaders are urging restraint amid fears of a wider confrontation affecting critical infrastructure and civilian life.
