In a significant community-focused initiative, Emirati businessman Khalaf Ahmad has announced the allocation of 88 residential apartments to support young men who wish to marry but lack housing.

The apartments, located in Al Habtoor Tower, include one-, two- and three-bedroom units designed to help newly married couples begin their lives together in stability and comfort.

70% cost covered by benefactor

Under the initiative, Khalaf Ahmad will cover approximately 70 per cent of the value of each apartment. Beneficiaries will pay the remaining 30 per cent through a flexible instalment plan spread over up to five years.

The total value of the programme exceeds Dh270 million, marking one of the most substantial private contributions aimed at strengthening family formation in the UAE.

Supporting ‘Family First’ vision

The project aligns with the Ministry of Family’s ‘Family First’ programme highlighted at the World Government Summit, which seeks to create more supportive public and urban environments for families.

The UAE currently has more than 60 family-related policies across federal and local levels, addressing housing, healthcare, education, employment and social support.

Sana bint Mohammed Suhail, UAE Minister of Family, has described family welfare as a “national, multi-dimensional challenge,” underlining the importance of collaborative efforts.

A long-term social investment

Khalaf Ahmad described the initiative as a practical humanitarian commitment aimed at removing one of the most significant barriers to marriage for young people — access to housing.

He emphasised that investing in youth and enabling family formation contributes positively to social stability, economic growth and long-term national development.

The housing programme builds on his earlier community initiatives, including support for newly married citizen employees, assistance for families with children and hosting group wedding ceremonies.

Calling on other stakeholders to take similar steps, Khalaf Ahmad noted that empowering young families today strengthens the nation’s future.
