Fire Breaks out at Lahore Airport; Several Flights Delayed

Lahore Airport

A significant blaze erupted at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport on Thursday, leading to international flight delays. Rescue teams swiftly arrived at the scene to manage the situation, with no casualties reported thus far. According to Aaj News, airport officials attributed the fire to a short circuit, promptly bringing it under control around 5 am on May 9.

Numerous Pakistani media sources indicated partial damage to the immigration system, resulting in a temporary suspension of immigration processes. Due to heavy smoke, airport authorities evacuated passengers from the immigration lounge, relocating operations to the domestic lounge. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) clarified that no emergency had been declared, and flight diversions were unnecessary.

Furthermore, the fire’s impact extended to Hajj flights, causing delays for six flights, including one operated by Qatar Airways.
